The sole Project Runway Canada winner, Evan Biddell, showed his spring/summer collection yesterday in Toronto. He took his inspiration from streetwear – the designs were decidedly punk and edgy. He had a nice mix of femininity and raw hard edge, and it flowed great. He even had menswear…albeit they were wearing skirts (denim, to be specific).
After the show, Biddell said he wanted to get back to colour, and that’s what I realized was so different than his last collection: he was missing colour! He had the denim and the lime yellow in the fabric that tied the collection together, but the rest was grays, blacks, and creams.
I thought that his collection would be perfect for the young, confident urbanite who doesn’t mind commanding attention in any room she walks into.
